Pickled Beets, (Canned)
(We make this Salad in August or September for winter time)
2 lb beets sliced
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 pint Apple vinegar
1 pint water
whole allspice, bay leaves
1. Combine sugar, salt, spices, vinegar, water and add peeled sliced beets and cook 10 - 15 minutes. Use enough water to cover.
2. Pack beets into hot sterilized jars and cover with boiling hot syrup. Seal.
